too bad mosaic deli is gone (8042 s western ave, los angeles, ca 90024) theyve been there since the 1950s, but i recall them originally. what about au nome italia ( 163 argyle st, anaheim, ca 92806) theyve been there since 1984 but look to be closing. also porto il cinema (6325 crenshaw blvd, los angeles, ca 90008)? theyve been there since 1973 but are obviously closing!

(1947) kingston supply company 1589 s. western ave, los angeles, ca 90056 a small family owned business started in 1947 that has a mexican grocery store with authentic mexican foods and a fresh and varied selection of iced and frozen foods, cosmetics and toiletries. the outlets also have a small gourmet deli offering filipino and asian foods. also the store has a small warehouse offering interior fixtures, door hardware and more. after the store closed there was a year as a hair salon and then as a store called makeda edibles and then as a store called a inol. the store is now being remodeled to be used as a tim horton's and a vintage clothing store.
the up-totem cafe 820 w. washington blvd, los angeles, ca 90066 (donahue/greenstreet). theyve been there since the early 1950s, and have been in what was the original up-totem building since 1928 and the swedish girl cafe / brothel since the 1930s. im not sure whats been going on the last few years, but the cafe was closed for renovations & remodeling in late 2014 and is now slated to open in march 2015. (1969) de la grace irish pub 545 w ontario st, riverside, ca 92501. this popular little irish pub, where the craic (meaning big talk) abounds, is located in the heart of a diverse and colorful riverside district, surrounded by numerous eateries. the interior is basic, white subway tile floors, beige and brown green walls, with a good sized bar and the deli case of the establishment directly opposite. the true irish character of this place is its beer selection. offering cask conditioned and kegged beers from the west of ireland, it lists the usual suspects on the menu, alongside meat and potatoes and cabbage and potatoes and beans and greens, but also highlights the speciality irish dishes of salmon and guinness cake, yorkshire pudding with mashed potatoes and oats and cream. all very nice, but if you wish to sample the authentic irish menu, the sides dishes include onion rings and colcannon (irish mashed potato and cabbage).
